What do we count as a computer poem?
As a general guideline, computer poetry uses algorithms to generate text. this can be interpreted very broadly. we encourage experimentation. have a look at the what is computer poetry page for inspiration.
The specific criteria for computer poetry is flexible and will be judged individually. for this reason, when you submit your computer poem, we ask that you provide an explanation of how it was generated.
We do have two rules:
- You are only allowed to do a very basic copy-edit on a generated poem after it is complete. You can change spelling, minor syntax errors, and punctuation - but you must keep your interference to a minimum; preferably to nothing! If you do do a copy-edit, please alert us to this fact in your email.
- If you use pre-existing software to generate your poem, please acknowledge the source.
